The idea for this book was inspired by the awareness of the importance of the interdisciplinary concept in current global education, associated with the curiosity of middle school students about phenomena in the field of music, the life and work of composers, the lyrical text (in Romanian or other languages) of the songs they interpret, and the culture of other peoples, as well as the connection between music and other disciplines studied in school.

Within the interdisciplinary approaches included in this book, specific connections between contents are presented in an interdisciplinary manner: music and mathematics, music and geography, music and computer science, music and visual arts, music and literature. The book also specifies ways in which musical competencies can be acquired in such activities, methods and procedures for implementing musical contents through interdisciplinary approaches, and concrete types of teaching-learning activities as well as assessment strategies.
